Adam Worth was one of the most notorious criminals of the 19th century. His daring heists and ability to evade capture made him a legend in the underworld. This book tells the incredible story of his life, from his humble beginnings to his eventual downfall.

Early Life

Adam Worth was born in Germany in 1844. His family was poor, and he had to work from a young age to help support them. As a teenager, he moved to the United States, where he quickly fell into a life of crime.

Worth's first major heist was in 1866, when he robbed a bank in St. Louis. He got away with over $100,000, which was a huge sum of money at the time. This heist made Worth a wanted man, but he was able to evade capture for several years.

The Pinkerton Detective Agency

In 1871, the Pinkerton Detective Agency was hired to track down Worth. The Pinkertons were the most famous detective agency in the world, and they had a reputation for being ruthless. They pursued Worth relentlessly, and they finally caught up with him in 1873.

Worth was arrested and charged with robbery. He was convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison. He served his sentence in the infamous Sing Sing Prison in New York.

After Prison

After his release from prison, Worth returned to a life of crime. He pulled off several more daring heists, including the robbery of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts in 1877. This heist was one of the most audacious art thefts in history.

Worth's luck finally ran out in 1884, when he was arrested for the robbery of a jewelry store in New York City. He was convicted and sentenced to 25 years in prison. He died in prison in 1902.

Legacy

Adam Worth was one of the most notorious criminals of his time. His daring heists and ability to evade capture made him a legend in the underworld. He was also a master of disguise, and he was able to change his appearance at will.

Worth's story is a fascinating one, and it has been told in numerous books, movies, and television shows. He is a reminder that even the most notorious criminals can have a human side.

The Life and Times of Adam Worth: Master Thief is a captivating read. It is a story of crime, adventure, and redemption. It is a book that will appeal to fans of history, biography, and crime fiction.
