In the annals of adventure, few stories are as epic as that of the first kayak descent of the Grand Canyon. In 1983, two young kayakers, Kenton Grua and Kevin Fedarko, set out to kayak the entire length of the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. It was a journey that had never been attempted before, and it would push them to their physical and mental limits.

The Grand Canyon is one of the most iconic landscapes on Earth. It is a vast, arid region carved by the Colorado River over millions of years. The canyon is home to a diverse array of plant and animal life, and it is a popular destination for hikers, rafters, and kayakers.

Grua and Fedarko began their journey at the headwaters of the Colorado River in Rocky Mountain National Park. From there, they paddled their kayaks through the sinuous canyons of the upper Colorado River. The water was cold and the rapids were treacherous, but Grua and Fedarko pressed on. They paddled day and night, often sleeping in their kayaks. They ate freeze-dried food and drank water from the river. They encountered bears, mountain lions, and other wildlife along the way. But they never gave up. They were determined to be the first people to kayak the entire length of the Grand Canyon.

After 36 days of paddling, Grua and Fedarko reached the end of the Grand Canyon at the Sea of Cortez. They had completed one of the most epic journeys in the history of kayaking. Their story is a testament to the human spirit and the power of determination.

The book "The Epic Story of the Fastest Ride in History Through the Heart of the Grand Canyon" tells the story of Grua and Fedarko's journey in vivid detail. The book is full of beautiful photography and gripping storytelling. It is a must-read for anyone who loves adventure, nature, or the Grand Canyon.
